Story Tax & Financial Services is not your ordinary accounting firm, tax company or credit restoration business. We value our communities that we service and live in. We take pride in giving back to make our communities a better place and to ensure that all of our clients know they are greatly appreciated! Story Tax & Financial Services believe that community involvement and engagement amongst local businesses is a vital key for a community to thrive. As our way of playing our part, we host annual community event to bridge the gap between businesses and the community. We create a positive environment where the community can unite and have a great time as well as receive valuable information of good and services offered from local business and organizations. At the event, we also recognize and honor a nonprofit organization that is making a great impact in our community. To affirm our beliefs, a portion of our proceeds from the event will be donated to the honored organization to encourage and enable them to continue their missions work.
The recognized organization that we will honor for empowering and improving our communities, at this year's event, will be New York Center of Interpersonal Development (NYCID). NYCID is a not-for-profit organization on Staten Island that promotes the improvement of human relationships and the strengthening of communities as fundamental to achieving a civil society. The Dealer will deal all cards 13 to each player. To determine beginning dealer, all players will draw
one card. Player with the highest value card will be beginning dealer.
A spade can trump or beat all other suits and any Spade of lesser value. The ranking of spades from
highest to lowest are Big Joker, Little Joker, 2♦and 2♠ following Ace, King etc. All other suits are Ace,
King, Queen, Jack, 10, ETC. The 2♥, 2♣ will be removed from the card deck.
The minimum total bid (Board) for a team is 4.
Definitions and Terminology
Bags: Number of books a team takes over their total bid. (example: a team bids 5 books total, but wins
7+ result is 2 bags)
Reneging: When a player fails to play the suite of the led card and later throws that same suite.
(example: Hearts are led, Player A throws a spade to win the trick. Later, Player A throws a Heart. Player
A has Reneged. If a team calls renege, that team must prove it and identify the first book that was the
potential renege.
Trailing Blind 6: If a team is 100 points or more behind the leading team, that team can make a blind bid
of 6 books prior to either partner looking at their cards. The Spades Master will announce when a team
is eligible to place a blind bid.
Scoring
1 Book = 10 pts.
1 Bag = 1 pt.
Reaching 10 bags = -100 pts.
Reneging = If a renege was proven, the reneging team will have 3 books deducted from them
and added to the opposing team. If the renege was not successfully proven, the team that called
renege will have 3 books deducted from them and given to the opposing team. The additional
books do not count as bags
Successful Blind 6 bid = 6 books bid X 20 pts
Failed Blind bid = Minus 6 books bid X 10 pts
Bidding and taking all 13 books = 200 pts.
Not reaching a team bid = Minus # of books bid X 10 pts.
There will be no additional bonus points other than what listed.
Game Conduct
No table talk or giving hints to a partner will be allowed.
Players must follow the suit of the led card, if they have a card of that suit. If a player does not
have a card of that suit, they can choose to throw a spade or another suit.
A player cannot lead with a spade until a spade has been played.
Dealer must offer the player to his/her right, the opportunity to cut the cards after they are
shuffled.
If a misdeal occurs, all players must throw in their cards and it is the next players turn to deal
the cards. A misdeal can be called for the following:
o Player was not dealt exactly 13 cards
o Player does not have any spades
o Player does not have any face cards (Ace, King, Queen, Jack)
Players must bid in order, stating with the player directly to the left of the dealer.
A card laid is a card played! and cannot be picked up regardless of value or suit. Unless resulting in a renege.
